Dr. ter Wengel completed her medical degree at VU in Amsterdam cum laude. She completed her neurosurgery training at VUmc in Amsterdam and completed her PhD in 2022 on the subject of traumatic spinal cord injuries. She works as a neurosurgeon at Spaarne Gasthuis and Haaglanden Medisch Centrum (HMC). Her focus areas are spine, spinal cord injuries, spinal tumors and brain tumors. Besides working as a neurosurgeon, she's also the chairwoman of Medichange Foundation, a foundation that wants to improve healthcare in rural areas.
